What is Consumer Directed Services?

For those who are able to self-direct their medical care, the Consumer Directed Services Program may be the best option for you! With the CDS program, each client is allowed to hire, train and terminate their own Aide.

This program gives clients freedom and security, allowing the client to hire your closest support and those you trust, friends and close relatives, can provide your personal care services through the CDS Program. If you do not have an aide chosen, we can provide a qualified aide for you.

To qualify for Consumer Directed Services

How you qualify for home and community based services differs among programs. Most programs have functional and financial requirements you must meet. An Free Assessment must be completed to determine if you meet the functional eligibility requirements of the program that would best assist you to live independently. Certain programs may require medical documentation to support your functional eligibility.

This is a Medicaid Funded program, financial eligibility for Medicaid funded programs is determined by the Family Support Division (FSD). Income limits may be adjusted annually. An eligibility provision called Medicaid Spenddown helps some individuals whose incomes are higher than the income limit.

Eligibility Requirements

- Have active Medicaid/MO Healthnet eligble
- Meet the level of care requirement set by Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
- Be capable of living independently with personal care assistance and self-direct/manage your own care
- Be physically disabled and/or chronic medical condition that interfere with daily living
- Able and willing to recruit, hire and manage attendants
